About Kate

Violinist. Music teacher. Builder of the tools my students were missing.

I've spent 19 years teaching music, and I've learned the most from the students who don't fit the usual mold.

My story

I'm a professional violinist and music educator based in Jacksonville, Florida. Over 19 years I've taught in classrooms, in community programs, and in students' homes.

Today I teach music in exceptional student education. Many of my students have significant disabilities, and almost nothing on the market was designed with them in mind. So I write my own curriculum and lesson materials, adapting each one until every student can take part in real music learning.

That work led me to SoundQuest: a music game built so virtually any student can play, learn, and grow. It's the tool I've wanted for my own classroom for years.

Outside the classroom, I co-founded Bold City Remix, a music education nonprofit, and I've spent years helping Jacksonville's creative community build programs that last.
